1st time wearing a dress!

The 1st day of CNY was the 1st time baby Sara is in a dress. Prior to this, Poh Poh "didn't allow" baby Sara to wear a dress as Sara didn't have much hair and Poh Poh was afraid that she would look like boy in a dress. But what the heck, it's CNY so I decided to buy a dress for Sara and insisted that she wore it during CNY.

When I brought Sara to the mirror to look at herself for the 1st in the dress, she was so thrill that she kept kicking and tugging her dress. I thought she looked pretty sweet in a dress isn't it ;)
I guess in every mummy's eyes their child will always be perfect no matter how strange they actually look. hahaha!

I want to ride my bicycle

Brought Sara for her 3rd cycling trip on Sunday. I must say am really impress by how babies grow, learn and adapt. I remember when I brought Sara for her very 1st cycling trip at East Coast Park when she was 7 months, she started wailing away the moment we put her in her bicycle seat. Daddy got to keep cycling to distract her. The moment daddy stopped cycling, she will start crying again.

Things were very different on Sunday. When we put her down in her seat, she sat down quietly without much resistance and she instinctively held on tight to the handle bar of the seat. I could see that she enjoying herself more and even managed to smile at me when she saw me cycling beside her.

Well done Sara! You are a big baby now :)

Sara's birth story

22/4/10 – My mucus plug broke in the morning. Went to see Dr Lai in the afternoon and found out tat my cervix was only 1cm dilated. I started to have irregular contraction in the afternoon.

23/4/10 - More consistent contraction started around midnight. By 4am contraction was every 2 mins so I woke WF and my daddy up to send me to hospital. Dr Lai came about 6am to chk on me and told me tat I was about 3 cm dilated and my cervix was thinning out. Contraction was pretty regular every 2 mins to 5 mins once. Dr Lai came and chk on me around noon but my dilation was not progressing well so he asked if I want to break my water bag to try and speed things up. My answer was yes anything for a quick labour. He told me the nurse will chk on my progress again at 6pm. The sad news was after he broke my water bag, contraction became irregular again. By 6pm I was only 4 cm dilated. I made the decision to induce labour with Oxytocin but before tat I wanted to be on epidural 1st. 18hrs of contraction without any pain killer is really draining me out. The anesthetist came about 7pm to administer the epidural for me together with the oxytocin.

24/4/10 - The good news was tat by 12 midnight I was abt 9cm dilated. 1 more cm to go. But tat 1 cm came only about 1 1/2 hrs later. Thank god I was on epidural if not I think I would have passed out already. However, the downside of epidural was tat I needed to be laying flat on my back through out and that's giving me a terrible shoulder ache and stiff neck. By about 1.45am the nurse came in and told me tat I could finally do the big push I was waiting for 10 months. I tried pushing for abt 15 to 20 mins on my own before Dr Lai came. When he saw my very insignificant progress, he decided to chk my baby's position and told me baby was look upwards tat was why my labour was long and slow. He asked if I wanted him to help. My answer was again yes, anything for a quick labour. He told me he will turn the baby and use a vacum to suck the baby out at the same time with me pushing. At 2.27am finally heard the crying sound of baby Sara I was waiting to hear for 10 months. Thanks to Dr Lai I always knew I was in good hands and tat baby Sara would come into this world safely :)

In a nutshell, I think the “bad egg” genes runs in the family. Just look at the birth story of Tristan and Sara and you will know why ;)
